Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. Her initial performances on Broadway included in Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. In her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her career working alongside renowned actors and directors in stage film and television and she continues that award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford can be seen next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place in March 2023 when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This show will be led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that created Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis that swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment trial in more than one century. Ashford appeared for two seasons on the CBS hit comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren In Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and now divides her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
